Trip to DC Inspires Customer Service Team and Customers Alike. SV Sales Manager Jeff accompanied our Customer Service team on a trip to Washington DC recently. Highlights of the trip included coming face to face with many customers and a tour of Mount Vernon.![]() Photo from a moving vehicle by Lynn. Hey, put your hands on the wheel! "So This Is Where You Work!" Lynn, Paul, Jodi, Donna and Kay all enjoyed seeing their customers. Many relationships built entirely by phone contact came to life on this trip, for both the SV customer service aces as well as their design professional customers. Donna reports: "It's such a good feeling to know exactly what they look like, and see where they sit when they write their work orders." We have future trips planned and we hope our Customer Service team will have the opportunity to visit you soon. Of course, if you happen to pass through Burlington, NC, please don't hesitate to drop in on us for a visit here and a tour of the SV workroom! ![]() Presidents Day at Mount Vernon. Stevenson Vestal has a unique relationship with Mount Vernon, because of our donation of custom window treatment labor for the Reception and Meeting Rooms of the Ann Pamela Cunningham Building (See SV Products Get Presidential at Mount Vernon). ![]() The group at Mount Vernon. During their visit to Mount Vernon, the team enjoyed a luncheon and special tour from tourguide Sue Keeler, and Donna and Jeff took part in a ceremony honoring the birthday of George Washington. At the luncheon, which featured such authentic fare as Bread Pudding, Peanut Soup and Mount Vernon Wine, CS Manager Lynn presented Ms. Keeler with our own Stevenson Vestal Cookbook. ![]() The Hidden Mount Vernon. Sue led the group on a tour of Mount Vernon that took them to places the public does not often see, such as the rooms in the top floor of the mansion and the birds-eye view of the Potomac and surrounding estate from the cupola, the distinctive eight-sided structure that rises more than fifteen feet above the roofline of the great house. ![]() Photos above composed by the artistic eye of Kay. George's Words of Wisdom. During a ceremony at the tomb of George and Martha Washington, Sue asked Donna to read aloud for the assembled crowd an excerpt from George Washinton's "Circular to the States" also known as George Washington's Prayer For His Country. In this blessing, written to the governors of the states about their states and their soldiers in 1783 during the last year of the American Revolution, our country's first commander in chief prays for "brotherly affection and love for one another...and particularly for their brethren who have served in the Field," with the "characteristicks" [18th century spelling] of "Justice...mercy...humility and pacific temper of mind." A Wreath with Two Meanings. Sue gave Jeff the honor of laying the boxwood wreath inside the tomb of George and Martha Washington. African American slaves planted the boxwoods at Mount Vernon. Thus the boxwood wreath not only pays tribute to the life of George Washington, but also symbolizes the long labors and the vital contributions made to the Washington family and Mount Vernon by many slaves whose names we might not know but whose lives we now honor. ![]() |
