Designer Nanette Price excels in West Palm Beach residence

Stevenson Vestal customer, designer Nanette Price of N Design International, LLC in High Point, NC has seen a year and a half of her design work come to fruition on a luxury residential project for her client's West Palm Beach, FL home.

The project encompassed design work for the entire house, including all surface materials and finishes (granite floors, wall paint, etc.), mill work and architectural details, furniture and custom window and bed coverings from Stevenson Vestal.

"The downstairs is luxurious and formal with a transitional flair with fine Oriental rugs, opulent silks and oversized upholstery" says Ms. Price. "My customer wanted a grand look but comfortable for welcoming their many house guests."

A Room with a View (of Palm Trees)
For the Living Room treatment the installer made a template of the wide bow window-wall. Nanette chose a copper silk fabric for the modified Windsor Valance with long cascades to span the curved space. Drapery side panels complete the framing of the sunny tropical exterior and smoothly curving interior, illuminated by a crystal chandelier.

A Little Squeal from my Friends
The client and two of her friends witnessed the installation of the Stevenson Vestal window treatments. Nanette said, "To hear all of their squeals would have made you laugh. They really enjoyed themselves as the products went up on the windows. They especially enjoyed watching the beautiful results unfold in the Dining Room."

The very formal Dining Room with Arched Custom Swags and Draperies. This treatment follows the arch of the window.

Turning a corner
Stevenson Vestal artisans crafted the corner window Family Room board treatment (as well as the bow window treatment in the Living Room) to include cloth hinges which allowed the treatments to fold up ingeniously for transportation. Nanette and her client figured "No way that's in there!" when they first saw the products as shipped.

The Family Room, with Stevenson Vestal box-pleated valances. The oversized scale and the corner window application creates drama in this light-filled room.

I'm thinking of a color
Nanette wanted to match the terra cotta color in the paisley print fabric she had chosen for the Family Room valance to use as an accent wall paint color. After not finding the exact color she needed, Nanette created her own custom paint color. To do so she presented her surprised Sherwin Williams paint expert with a wet terra cotta clay saucer. This paint color ended up included in the Sherwin Williams Color Forecast 2007!

Another view of the Family Room shows the terra cotta accent wall.

These are a few of my favorite things
Nanette described the Guest Room pictured below as the "British West Indies" room, and says "The entire upstairs is a more relaxed, fun atmosphere with a tropical 'Tommy Bahama' feel." Chocolate and teal striped Square Pillows and a mini-print on the Duvet Cover by Stevenson Vestal add comfort to this serene and attractive Guest Bedroom. Although Nanette's client purchased some ready-made bedding, she enthusiastically called the SV bedding products "my favorites."

She sells seashells by the seashore
In the Laundry Nanette placed a diminutive London Balloon Topper that features seashell bead trim along the bottom. This just goes to show you that even the smallest room in the house deserves a little charm.

Wow factor
The "tropical fun" continues in the Loft, where Nanette did her own embellishing to a Stevenson Vestal Awning Valance fabricated out of solid tan fabric. She hand sewed three layers of grass skirt over the front of the awning. "I wanted a lot of WOW!"

First time's the charm
Although Nanette can look back on many years of valuable retail experience, she has only recently established her career as an independent designer. So when her client first approached her about this large project Nanette felt a bit anxious. She confided, "I said to myself that if I ever get this project done, I'm never going to do another one like it!" But Nanette has changed her tune since bringing the project to a highly satisfactory conclusion, and now she looks forward to similar opportunities in the future.

"I don't think any other workroom could have handled it."
Nanette concluded, "I appreciate so much all the people who helped me with this project, including the Stevenson Vestal artisans and my SV Customer Service Rep, Jodi. Jodi really helped a lot. She's wonderful."
