Pagoda Chinoiserie
Cornice and fabric match Up for Oriental charm
This pagoda style cornice plus a stunning chinoiserie fabric adds up evocative Oriental charm for Sue Hammer of Village Design Group in Southern Pines, NC.

chi•noi•se•rie
noun
The imitation or evocation of Chinese motifs or techniques in Western art, furniture and architecture, esp. in the 18th century. -Oxford American Dictionary
Something tells me we're not in Kansas anymore
Both the home this pagoda cornice will grace and Village Design Group are located not far from the legendary "Emerald City of Golf": Pinehurst Resort in Pinehurst, NC, one of the largest and most popular golf resorts in the world and site of several SV Turnkey projects that included every guest room in the iconic Carolina Hotel and much more. The surrounding area features 43 golf courses and many homes line these courses. Sue's client's home is no exception, and her new pagoda cornice will gracefully frame an emerald view.
Congratulations
Congratulations to Sue Hammer of Village Design Group in Southern Pines, NC for catching our eye!

Falling in love with a fabric
Designer Sue Hammer says "my customer fell in love with this particular chinoiserie fabric. Although I discovered that the fabric was discontinued, I was able to buy every last bit of it I could find, and that worked out for this job. We'll use complementary gold and rose colored fabrics in the Living Room where this cornice will be installed.

How I met my client
Sue tells the story of meeting her client. She hosted a gathering of the local Arts Council at her home. A young woman, admiring the house and furnishings approached her and said "I love the look of your home. You have everything I'm looking for!" And so a beautiful designer-client relationship began.

Remember that extra 4" clearance for each pagoda end. When you plan your pagoda cornice order, remember that each end will extend 4" beyond your face width, and that your site conditions must allow for this much "elbow room".

Meet SV cornice artisan Rebecca (again)
SV cornice artisan Rebecca once again gets to take a bow for the SV eye-catcher (see last month's Dancing an Arabesque that also featured Rebecca and artisan Marian C.). Rebecca remembers that she used three widths of fabric carefully pattern-matched for the face of this cornice, and that she liked the look of the tassel trim along the bottom.
