Bold Pattern, Precise Fabrication

Large windows create an opportunity to shape the entire character of a room. For this project, the designer selected a striking geometric fabric to create a cohesive story across multiple spaces, including custom pinch-pleated draperies and a coordinating Pleated Hem Roman shade. The result is a collection of window treatments that provides visual continuity while allowing each room to maintain its own distinct function and atmosphere.

Architectural Framing Through Fabric

The living area features soaring windows framed with full-length pinch-pleated draperies. The bold blue and neutral pattern introduces movement and scale while emphasizing the architecture of the room. Rather than competing with the expansive windows, the treatments help define the space and create a stronger sense of proportion.

In the kitchen, the same fabric appears in a tailored Roman shade. The treatment delivers pattern and visual interest without overwhelming the room, demonstrating how a single textile can be adapted across different applications while maintaining design consistency throughout the home.

The bedroom installation takes a different approach with embroidered drapery panels suspended from decorative metal hardware. The vertical pattern placement complements the room's height and reinforces the architectural lines of the bay window, creating a balanced and intentional presentation.

Precision in the Workroom

Bold fabrics reward careful planning.

When working with large-scale patterns, fabrication decisions become just as important as fabric selection. Pattern centering, seam positioning, and pleat spacing all influence how the finished treatment will be perceived once installed.

For the draperies shown here, maintaining consistent pattern flow across each panel required disciplined layout and fabrication. Careful pleat spacing ensured that the pattern remained visually balanced while preserving the fullness necessary for proper drape and stack.

The Roman shade required equal attention. Pattern placement was carefully considered to ensure the fabric presented cleanly when lowered while maintaining visual consistency through the folds when raised. These details often go unnoticed when executed correctly, but they are essential to achieving a polished finished installation.

Craftsmanship Behind the Design

Custom window treatments are more than decorative elements. They influence scale, proportion, and the overall architectural presence of a room.

Thoughtful fabrication helps treatments maintain their structure, install cleanly, and perform reliably over time. Every seam, fold, and pleat contributes to the final result.

For interior designers, this level of craftsmanship provides confidence that the design intent established during specification will carry through to installation day. The goal is not simply to fabricate a treatment, but to ensure the finished work reflects the designer's vision with precision and consistency.

Where Design Meets Fabrication

Projects like this demonstrate the value of collaboration between designer and workroom. A strong design concept establishes the vision. Disciplined fabrication ensures that vision is executed successfully.

At Stevenson Vestal, every treatment is custom fabricated to support the designer's intent while delivering the craftsmanship, reliability, and installation confidence that custom projects demand.
