Choose fabrics wisely

One of the most critical factors influencing a product's success is the choice of fabric. Different fabrics possess unique characteristics, which lead to varying performances in specific products.

This principle also applies to light-colored fabrics and linings. When using these light-colored materials together, the seams or hem lines may cast shadows on the front side of the product. In this case, you may want to interline your product.

Using interlining for treatments is essential with lightweight and sheer fabrics that have patterned linings, as the pattern may be visible from the front.

Bobbined Fabric: Fabrics with thick, bunched rows of loose threads on the back side, often called “bobbined fabric,” may not be suitable for certain custom window coverings. It’s important to avoid using this type of fabric in windows that receive strong lighting. To reduce the shadowing effects of bobbined fabric, you can use flannel interlining or blackout lining.

Silk fabric: When working with silk fabric, be sure to use interlining to provide it with the appropriate structure and body.
